On February 26, the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission and the historic Eureka Theater will again join forces to host their annual celebration for the local community and movie enthusiasts to walk the red carpet. With what has become an annual tradition in Eureka, the Red Carpet Gala, the Film Commission will recognize a noteworthy year of filmmaking in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties on the biggest night of the year for movies, the 89th Academy Awards.
The Gala will include community awards for private and public entities, and individuals that have excelled at being film friendly in our region and accommodating productions in the area. Over the past year filmmakers have captured the region’s unique locations, embraced local talent, and energized the local economy with a steady stream of productions in every type of media. Everything from TV shows like, Beachfront Bargain Hunt, and American Pickers, to Disney’s recent feature production of A Wrinkle in Time utilized the Redwood Region’s mystical forests and mesmerizing coast.
The Gala will feature an appetizer bar, prizes, champagne and cocktails from the no host bar, a best dressed contest, community awards, and musical entertainment by the RLA Jazz Trio and solo artist Michael Dayvid, all while watching ABC’s live public telecast of the 2017 Academy Awards on the big screen. Doors open at 5 P.M. on Sunday, February 26 at the historic Eureka Theater located at 612 F Street in Eureka.
Advanced tickets are $25 ($30 at the door) and can be purchased at Brown Paper Tickets at http://www.redcar... or in person at Annex 39 Antiques in Eureka.
